     A total of 410 species of birds have been sighted in New Jersey, but only about 150 have been recorded in the Pine Barrens. A mere 50 of these are common. Some of them you might see upland are the Blue Jay, Carolina Chickadee, Pine Warbler and the Brown Thrasher.In the low areas of dense vegetation along streamsand rivers live Catbirds, American Redstarts and Field Sparrows. Herons, Egrets and ducks live on the rivers and lakes.
