Mollusks

Oysters:
An oyster is a marine bivalve. There are over 50 living species and several of them are edible. Pearl oysters are part of a different family. Oysters attach themselves to rocks or lie on the bottom of the sea. They can not move but are often moved from their resting place by waves. An oysters shell is an oval shape.

Clams:
The clam, also known as the bivalve, are edible. Clams have long been one of the most popular of the edible shellfish. Refered to as bivalve mollusks because of the two valves, or shells, that enclose the body, these small filter-feeding animals are found in intertidal areas throughout the world. They burrow all the way or half way into the sand or mud by using their hatchet-shaped muscular foot. You can determine the clam's age by looking at the prominent growth rings on the outer surface of the clam shell.
